Kicks

Last night was the first time that I felt Bean kicking. JJ had been feeling them for a while, but the dancing evidence had eluded me. But there they were, little taps and nudges against my palm. We'd shake Bean around a bit to get some reaction (poor thing) and wait for the prods, smiling from ear to ear and looking into the middle distance to concentrate.

I still can't quite make the connection that there's a little thing inside JJ that's causing all this. It's the difference between knowing about and knowing. I'm still at the knowing about stage, and I suppose I may well remain there until Bean actually sprouts. Yet feeling the kicks for the first time was the closest I've got so far, both figuratively and literally.
